Pig Roast Dinner

The Pig Roast Dinner on August 15 was great. We usually have lobster dinner in the past, but we thought we would change it out this year.

IMG_2888The pig was just under 100 pounds and it was smoked inside a gigantic smoker filled with coals since the morning for over 7 hours. You can see the smoke coming out of the BBQ and the smell of the pig roast permeated the whole village all day!

Then the pig was dressed in sunglasses and apple!  We also had corn, potato and gravy, salad, and soup.  For the non-pork eaters, we had hot dogs and hamburgers.  We also served ice cream. The pork was super moist and everything was just delicious. IMG_2892 (1)

We were a little worried because of the pending storm, but luckily it turned out to be a nice day.  People from the village came with their families and neighbors.   We got to know our neighbors and meet their families a little bit, which was great. It was moist and delicious.  I think people really enjoyed it based on the compliments we got and people took some of the leftovers home.

Thank you for all the volunteers who helped out with preparing the food and cleaning up afterwards.

Playing hard in the Sand

A group of dedicated volunteers were hard at work spreading 22 tons of sand in the playground on August 20, 2014.

Special thanks to the hardworking crew that made this project possible and the playground more playful: Bob and Joan Gonser, Paul Mattatall, Bob Ingram, Horst Fitzler, John Rocharz and Mike Massimi.

The EPOA also want to thank the DPW for hoisting the sand over the fence.

Eidelweiss gardening work with pictures

Today we revamped the garden for the entrance of Eidelweiss Drive.  With everybody chipped in today, it took less than an hour and a half to dig out the dirt, trim down the bushes and replace it with nice loom.   The area is now ready for some nice flowers and plants for next weekend.

Thank you for all the volunteers in helping out.  We can’t wait to see the garden next weekend.
